TERENCE DUNN

TERENCE PANG-YEN DUNN is a master instructor of Chinese martial, yogic, and healing arts with more than 42 years of training based in Los Angeles, CA. Since 1990, he has popularized Tai Chi Chuan and authentic Qigong practices throughout America and Europe through his highly acclaimed Tai Chi for Health and Chi Kung For Health DVD series, and has pioneered the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong in modern medicine and professional sports since 2000. Educated at Yale College and the Harvard Business School, Dunn is a gifted teacher, author and filmmaker who expresses an ecumenical vision in preserv-ing some of the most rare and powerful ancient Chinese martial, healing, yogic , and spiritual traditions

Master Dunn's experience in Chinese holistic health practices includes more than 38 years in T'ai Ch'i Ch'uan and two complete Taoist monastic systems of Qigong , and more than 42 continuous years in three styles of Chinese boxing (kung-fu). He has studied Kung-Fu arts under some of the most renowned Chinese martial art masters who immigrated to the West: Grandmaster Doo Wai of Ehrmei Mountain White Tiger Kung Fu (Bok Fu Pai), Grandmaster William C.C. Chen and the late Master Abraham Liu in Yang style T'ai Chi Ch'uan in the manner of Professor Cheng Man-Ching, Master Chan Ching-Kai in Yang T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Six Harmonies & Eight Methods ("Liu He Ba Fa"), Master York Why Loo in Liu He Ba Fa, the late Grandmaster Ark Yue Wong of the Southern Sil Lum Five Animal Style, the late Master and Taoist priest Share K. Lew of the Tao Tan Pai (Taoist Elixir Method) Kung Fu, and Master Douglas Wong in Sil Lum White Lotus Kung Fu. Certified in 1983, Dunn is a master instructor in the Southern Sil Lum Five Animals Kung Fu, Taoist Elixir Method, and Ehrmei Bok Fu Pai. Master Dunn is the sole seventh generation preserver of Ehrmei Mountain Flying Phoenix Celestial Healing Qigong ("Fei Feng San Gong"), an extraordinary medical qigong art (a subsystem of Bok Fu Pai) created by Taoist sage Feng Dao Deh in 1661. He learned this qigong from Grandmaster Doo Wai from 1991 to 1997, along with rare Eight Sections of Energy Combined Kung Fu system and the 54-part 10,000 Buddhas Ascend to Heaven Qigong System.

Terry Dunn has taught Chinese martial and healing arts in Los Angeles for more than 35 years and is on the faculty of Emperor's College of Trad. Oriental Medicine. He conducts his Tai Chi for Health and Qigong For Health seminars nationwide for private and public sector organizations. Since 2017, he has been the master-in-residence at Eastover Estate in Lenox, MA and teaches workshops at other Bershires venues such as Canyon Ranch and at the Open Center of New York.

Terry makes powerful ancient Chinese holistic health traditions safe and accessible to the west, enabling students to attain good health, longevity, and self-empowerment, and to discover their natural healing power, genetic talent, and spiritual potential. He taught Tai Chi and Qigong courses at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from 1996 to 2001, and wrote the first medical protocol in American medical history applying therapeutic Tai Chi Qigong exercises to accelerate the recovery of post-operative patients in Cedar Sinai's Dept. of Cardiac-thoracic Surgery. In 2000 and 2001, Terry became the first Tai Chi trainer in the NBA, teaching the Los Angeles Lakers during their second championship season, conducting a 50-minute Tai Chi and Kung Fu warm-up and conditioning regimen at the start of every practice.

Mr. Dunn is the creator of the all-time best-selling Tai Chi for Health DVD series (released in 1991) and the six-part Chi Kung For Health series (2004) teaching the remarkable Flying Phoenix Celestial Qigong. He currently has eight new Tai Chi/Qigong programs in his production pipeline. In the area of public safety, Mr. Dunn produced in 1995 the life-saving Universal System of Arrest & Control for Law Enforcement training videos with American Kenpo master Ron Chapel, still used today by police agencies worldwide.
